Kay Jay has a varied background in industry and academics.
She received her B.S. from Oklahoma State University in Clothing, Textiles
and Merchandising, an M.S. from Colorado State University with an emphasis
in Historic Textiles and Apparel and the Ph. D. in Adult Education from
The University of Texas at Austin. Her business experience includes manufacturing,
retailing, wholesale sales, marketing, promotion and product design. Her
research interests are in Oral History, Historic Collections, Women Artist/Entrepreneurs,
Radical Career Change, Career Choice and Student Experience in Higher
Education. She teaches Retail Research, Visual Merchandising, Consumers
in the Marketplace,Textiles Laboratory and Apparel II. Other activities
include exhibiting designs combining vintage textiles, found objects and
hand needle crafts. She consults with and offers seminars for artist/entrepreneurs
in small business and consults on topics concerning Adult Education methods.
