Suzanne Render Curtis, PhD, RD holds a Master's degree in
Nutrition and a doctorate in Food Systems Management from Oregon State
University. She came to academia after more than twenty years working
as a dietitian in a variety of settings - university food service, clinical
nutrition, long-term care, consulting and management. Her excellence in
teaching has been recognized with the Department of Human Ecology Teaching
Award in 2002. Her research interests include food safety and food and
culture. She is currently working on a research project with colleagues
and graduate students focusing on food safety in child care centers. Her
work with undergraduate research projects is focusing on the development
of food and nutrition curricula for international students.
