Comments From Current and Former Coordinated Program Students
Class of 1999 for Nutrition at the Texas Legislature
One of the biggest advantages of the CP, is the guidance of the experienced
faculty. I felt very comfortable and confident about the program knowing I
did not have to leave Austin in order to prepare myself for the registration
examination. This program gives the students a variety of dietetic
experiences.
Seerath Basravi, Class of '06
I knew I was learning in the coordinated program, but I didn't realize just
how much until I started my first job as a clinical dietitian. I felt very
prepared, and when I didn't know the answer - I knew where to go.
Amy Schwede Beicker, Class of '05
For me, the Coordinated Program was a lot of work, a lot of long nights studying, and a lot of networking. Almost every person I compare notes with that has completed a dietetics program somewhere else says they wished they had more time in their rotations or with their professors. It’s funny how a regular day in class introduced me to WIC and Selena Martinez, my future supervisor (who is an excellent mentor and friend). Couple years later, I’ve returned to my alum website to see Anita Ramos – one of the most respected, most knowledgeable, down-to-earth people we have working at our State office. What a small nutrition world!
For all of you out there asking yourself, is it worth it? The answer is – absolutely!! You leave this program not only ready to pass your exam, but having spent more than a few hours in a rotation - you are ready for your future job.
Cristina (Nini) Munoz, Class of '03
As a returning student, wife and mom, I was very challenged by the demands of this program. While these two years have been stressful, I’ve received superb instruction and invaluable practical experience.
Sheri Ledingham, Class of '97
Dietitian
Harris Methodist Southwest
The program provided an opportunity for exposure to different areas of dietetics including clinical, management, community and research. Working with dietitians in all areas in the community helped me to recognize my strengths and weaknesses and helped me focus on job opportunities that matched my interests.

The University of Texas - Houston, Health Science Center
The Coordinated Program is an intense study of dietetics which coordinates the classroom with actual practice in the profession. CPD allows you to make close bonds with people who have similar career interests – you have friends for life!
Monica Bearden, Class of '97
Nutritional Scientist

Your experience in CPD is based on your relationship with your fellow students. I wish I had appreciated more the talent and help we all had to give each other. ….. that is one of the main lessons I came away with: the importance (and fun) of having a learning community.
Michelle Radcliffe, RN, RD, Class of '94
UT Doctoral Student in Kinesiology
It’s the best way to learn the most information in a short amount of time.
Holly Jordan, Class of '98
The Coordinated Program provides work experience in various areas of nutrition. This work experience assisted me in my career decisions.
Anita Ramos, RD, Class of '91
Nutrition Training Specialist
Texas Department of Health - WIC
One of the several appeals of the Coordinated Program is that it offers a challenging setting in which students develop dietetic skills, but it also tends to provide a very "family like" environment to the students which is very helpful for studying and a great opportunity to make good friends!
Alison Kalinowski, Class of '98
Class of 1997 Lobbying for Nutrition at the Texas Legislature
The University of Texas Coordinated Program offered me the opportunity to learn in the real world. I was able to meet and work with many RD’s in Austin who provided strong mentorship for me.
Nancy Grant Brieger, RD, Class of '92

UT Division of Housing and Food Service
The most beneficial aspect I have found in the program is being able to apply what you learn in class in practical situations immediately!!
Jessie Watson, Class of '98
The Coordinated Program is well worth the effort. I developed the tools necessary to tackle both clinical and administrative dietetics; along with the confidence to take on challenging positions.
Traci Meek Miller, RD, Class of '94
Administrative Dietitan
Central Texas Veterans Health Care System
Temple, Texas
There are several things I like about the program ….. you become a family and everyone supports one another, including support from the faculty, which helps create a successful learning experience. You also get great "hands on" training to help reinforce classroom teaching.
Annette Mackovyak, Class of '98
The instructors are genuinely concerned about each and every student. They will do ALL they can to help you succeed ….. You will be thrilled with all the knowledge you come out with. It’s a blast!!!

The friendships and support of my classmates helped me get through the tough times. The personal attention while learning new information and applying that learning through actual experience was and is invaluable. Thanks to UT CPD!!

It’s fun and challenging. Be prepared to work!! The faculty is very nice, understanding and supportive. UT CPD is the place to be. Hook ‘em Horns.
