The Division of Textiles and Apparel's spring fashion show, "Luminous" took place on April 24, 2009, at the Frank Erwin Center. Twenty-three senior apparel design majors presented collections of evening wear, daywear, and bridal gowns in an event the Austin American Statesman calls "the largest, most well attended fashion show of its kind in the Southwest." A pre-show exposition began at 6:40 pm, highlighting programmatic and research activity within the division. A fully realized, runway fashion show followed at 8 pm.
Organized by the University Fashion Group under faculty guidance, and funded by the University Co-Operative Society, the show provides students an invaluable opportunity to produce a large, formal fashion show in a manner standard to the fashion industry.
