Huston, Priscilla Pond Flawn Professor in the Division of Human Development and Family Sciences, Department of Human Ecology, will be honored with the Reuben Hill Award from the National Council on Family Relations for the article, "Mothers' time with infant and time in employment as predictors of mother-child relationships and children's early development," published in Child Development, 2005, Volume 76 (2), pp. 467-482.

HDFS Alumna and current Harvard Lecturer Sylvia Epps' postdoctoral work examines how afterschool activities affect the well-being of low-income children.

Dr. Ted Dix's research indicates that at very young ages, childrens defiant behavior toward their mothers may not be a bad thing. This defiance may in fact reflect childrens emerging autonomy and a confidence that they can control events that are important to them.
