Mary Jane Burson is the Practicum Coordinator
for HDFS, and is responsible for the application process and coordination
of HDF 355, 352, 352L, 652P and 652F. In addition, she teaches and supervises
students placed in the applied practicum (HDF 352, 352L, 652P, 652F).
She also teaches HDF 360, Methods of Family Life Education, which deals
with issues related to family life education, ethics, values, and personal
philosophical development. Ms. Burson is very interested in teacher education,
ECI, Child Life, and the Certified Family Life Educator program. Her experiences
include 10 years teaching 2 to 5-year-olds at the University of Texas,
Purdue University, Colorado State University, and Texas State University
Lab Schools, and being a day care center director. Ms. Burson frequently
presents at conferences (local to national level) on such topics as "Dealing
with Difficult Children", "Sibling Relationships", "Training the Trainer:
How to Get your Message Across", "Working with Parents", "Ethics in the
Workplace", and "Know your Values."
