Scholarship Policy
Scholarships
are awarded by the Department of Human Ecology each year to certain
families with a child enrolled at the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and
Family Laboratory. Scholarship money is limited and will be awarded
based on demonstrated need. The applications received will be ranked
in order of need, as determined by the formula used in the National
School Lunch Program; this formula takes into account annual income
versus family size. Other factors may be taken into consideration as
well.
To be considered for a scholarship, a family
may request a scholarship application by telephoning the Laboratory
at 471-3974, stopping by the desk of the administrative assistant located
in Seay 1.440A, or emailing the request to cfl@uts.cc.utexas.edu.
The application should be completed and returned to the Laboratory with
a brief statement that includes the family's current financial situation
and family size. Also, documentation to verify the family's annual income
should be attached.
A scholarship committee will make decisions as to
the number of awards made and select the recipients. The members of the
scholarship committee will be the tenure-track professors serving on the
Laboratory Committee of the Division of Human Development and Family Sciences.
The director of the Laboratory will have the responsibility to organize
the applications and required documentation, call the meeting, and notify
the office of the Chairman, Department of Human Ecology, of the final award
decisions. |
