Lilla Clark Kay, HE class of 1931, celebrated her 96th birthday this year. She was born into the founding family of Clarksville, Texas, the northeastern gateway into the state via the pioneer trail blazed by Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston and other colonists who arrived in Texas while it was still part of a very recently independent Mexico. Her father, Simeon English Clark, was an educator and historian with a special interest in early Texas history.
